How do I know when my filter needs replacing?

Check for reduced water pressure, discolouration, or changes in your water.

Can I install a filter myself?

Yes! Simply open your Big Blue housing and swap the cartridge.

Can I use a filter without a UV system?

Yes, you can! While our filters are designed to be part of a Vital Essence System, they can still be used on their own in any compatible housing to reduce sediment (or chlorine, depending on the filter type). However, without UV, the system won’t remove bacteria or viruses—so if you're on well water or want full protection, we strongly recommend pairing your filter with a UV disinfection unit.

For complete water wellness, we always recommend using the full system: filters + UV lamp + quartz sleeve.

Is this filter compatible with my Vital Essence System?

Yes—all of our filters are designed to work with specific Vital Essence Systems, and we always indicate which system each filter is compatible with directly on the product page.
